Lake Murray & Community
As part of the shoreline enhancement project for Lake Murray, SCE&G gave away tree seedlings last month.
Shoreline Habitat Enhancement Project is a cooperative effort between SCE&G, the Department of Natural Resources and lake interest groups. It is designed to improve the aesthetics of the lake’s shoreline, help control erosion, re-establish shoreline vegetation and protect water quality. The seedlings were distributed in bundles of 10 and 15 trees and were free of charge for lake residents. All planting instructions was provided, which was extremely helpful since there were different tree seedlings available.
More than a decade! – Don’t miss out next year!
This is the 12th year of the tree giveaway, which has provided trees for hundreds of property owners. Lake property owners were allowed a maximum of three trees from a variety of species including Bald Cypress, Southern Wax Myrtles, Willow Oaks, and Crabapple. The trees are 3-gallon nursery stock and approximately 4-5 feet in height.
